Questions

How do you know if you should give something up and choose a new path?
I'm in a position where I know what the ultimate end result is and I am really really close to it, but I feel as if one more step towards it is going to drive me insane because it's not in my heart.

Why do people keep score in friendships and romantic relationships?
Seriously! Your friend saying "All those times you cried on my shoulder" makes you think twice. Are you my friend? Or am I just your basket case? You know who you are. Either you've been in the basket or you've carried it. Pick one please.

If a tree falls in forest and no one is around to hear it....
No I'm serious. I've been trying this experiment in my own life, and that should be hard considering the campus I live on, but surprisingly, I feel like I'm that tree in the empty forest. No one calls or comes by to see if you are even alive.
This goes for everyone: just because you see a person and they look ok, does not mean a thing.

Feel free to answer these questions. I would really like to know what y'all are thinking. Thanks!!

Lessons Learned

1. Just because something is not important to you, does not mean it isn't important to someone else.
People support others who are close to them regardless of how they feel towards the subject a lot of times, simply because if it matters to your loved one, it matters to them by default.

2. Love is NOT Blind.
I don't know who came up with that. It's just an excuse for people wanting remain oblivious to the truth of their situation. The way I see it: if God is Love, and God is omnipresent and omnipotent, then love must be the same. And I know for sure God ain't blind.

3. Malice and jealousy are not good looks on me.
The days I walk around campus with the slightest frown because of a bad mood, other people notice ( it's out of my character and they know something is wrong), plus I've been through enough to not even hold a grudge against anything or anybody.

4. People will take pictures. Even if you tell them not to!!!
I'm in that generation that grew up at the point where certain technologies became a prevelent part of our lives. Digital cameras, social media, and the internet are all some people know now, so I guess I should just be photo ready every time I step out of the house.

That's all I have time for right now. ttyl ☺️

The Infamous Boot!

Here it is! My infamous boot! I finally get the chance to leave it behind after almost a month of wearing it. Question is: am I ready? Can I stand on my own two feet now, or do I still need this medical boot for support as I walk across campus?
I'm sure there are many people who have something like my boot holding them back from something. It may be a friend or not wanting to make an important decision in life.
Whatever the "boot" may be, I encourage  you to see the bigger picture and claim your testimony now!

My Heart: As Is

What happens when you start praying for a pure and clean heart? Does that mean that it was really in that bad of a condition? I don't think that is always the case.
One of the biggest things that I am learning through this phase of my journey is that God is always cleansing my heart; it is because he really does know what I want and need and what my intentions are all of the time.
So when something happens and the slightest bit of malice starts to form in my heart, it doesn't stay for long because I know that's not how I want my heart to be. I guess that my heart as it is going to be constantly being kept clean by God, if that makes any sense.

Untitled

So... Today was the first day of my spring semester in college. Most of my classes were canceled due to this wacky weather we are experiencing. It's barely 10 degrees outside. I thought this was the South!!
Anyways.. I know I've been out of touch for a while, today I realized something that has really been with me all along. I realized what it really means for me to pray without ceasing.  I sat in class with my mind wanting to wander away from the lecture, but the moment I said to God, "Lord, let me focus. You know the plans you have for me and you know what my heart really desires," all of the extra things went away. Even though things are going pretty good for me right now, I have found myself just talking to God. I don't have to wait for something good or bad to happen. I just know that he's the only one who always listens and will send me the guidance I need, and never a moment too soon or too late.

Loving who I am today

Today as I chill in my free time, which has been nonexistent for the whole month of October, I thought about who I am, who I was, and who I want to be.
Every day, I wake up thinking "I will just be Bri today," but something always  happens and my friend will say, "ooo now where you going Shirley?"  Or if I am seen doing a dance that looks like a twerk in the slightest way and I am wearing a wig I am known as "lil Kim".  On the other hand, if I am talking about my homemade jelly and jam I am referred to simply as "Kathy". Now you may wonder what this has to do with anything.
Sometimes I wonder that too, truthfully. But that's just who I am I guess. At least those closest to me know those good sides of me and most importantly the reasons why I am who I am. If you know me, you know I own the fact that I may have what they call an old soul, and that I don't try to fit any one mold society has set for young black women. If I want to knit, I'm gonna knit a scarf one day, sing a song, then dance to a "rachet" song afterwards, don't I deserve the right to do so?
So for the readers, just have fun and be yourself. You will regret not doing that because no one else will do it for you.

Answered Prayers

I woke up this morning, maybe from a dream, thinking about something that I wanted. Thing is, as soon as I set my feet on the floor, that thing had fleeted from my mind.
The past twenty four hours have left me with an array of emotions including fear, anxiety, curiosity, and happiness. This morning, I am thinking: why am I not satisfied with everything that I have. I should not want for anything, right?
I realize now that everytime I pray to God for something, to keep me safe, to help me reach my ambitions, that those prayers have already been answered. How can I pray that I make a profound impact on lives when I am overlooking what I have already accomplished? Truth is, we always want more, not remembering that God really doesn't put more in us than we can bear. That means that at a given time, He is simply preparing you what whatever load you are to carry in His will.
