I know I've been gone for a while, but what has kept me away was one of those life altering, light bulb moments in life. I had a glimpse into what I know I want to do in life! I got to live in the moment every single day, and be a light in a special group of children's lives. I got to see faces light up over the smallest rainbows and boxed school lunches ( the same lunches I probably complained about at some point as a kid). I got to give verbal affirmation, even if I wasn't going to get any in return. But that's how you know it's right. It's not perfect, but it is right.
That was my first summer away from home. I went from living on my college campus, in a dorm room, to living in a nice apartment with three other young women, and now back to living in my dorm room, in what has only been four or five months. Being able to mingle with the different living situations lets me figure out what I really wanted to focus on.
Fast forward to the present. It's the end of the calendar year 2016! That was over a year ago and I am a college graduate, living at home. The difference between now and then is that I've experienced more rejection this summer than I have in my entire life! I wasn't as prepared to face the world as I thought. All I had was my degree and this dream of starting over in the city that I had grown to love since I was seven years old. But of course, God placed me back home on purpose. The job I have now is nothing short of eye opening and I am enjoying it. It can't be compared to any other person's position or life journey, so I won't complain.
In short, I faced my fears and owned up to the fact that I am me. I can only be who God created me on purpose to be, and I must be content with that, nothing more or less.
I know that sounds complicated, but here's the thing: Only when I live in the moment, not worrying about what opportunities tomorrow may or may not hold, or what happened to me along the way, am I able to completely experience peace and feel that purpose that God has placed in my life.
